They’ve been open nearly two of my lifetimes, but it’s all coming to an end this Saturday. I must admit, I’d driven past the place plenty of times, but I’d never really had a reason to go … karting.
However, since Lil 500, an Orlando attraction since 1968, is closing permanently, we thought it would be good to take the kids for a good old-fashioned Florida send off.
Since my wife grew up around these parts, she’s been plenty of times. She was very much right at home with the Honda engines and gasoline and what have you. I could tell.
When I walked out to the track with my son, who had never driven a go kart in his life, he said, “It looks easy.”
I hope everyone who has made memories here has a chance to go back before it’s gone.
